How payment works on https://smartelectro.ca/: which cards we accept, when your card is charged, how your card details are protected, what happens if a payment is declined and how refunds are returned.

We do not accept cash, cash on delivery, cheques, bank transfers, e-transfers, PayPal, gift cards or cryptocurrency, and we do not offer instalment plans or financing. The methods available to you are the ones shown on the checkout page.

2. Currency and amounts

All prices and charges are in Canadian dollars (CAD). The amount charged is the order total shown on the final checkout step: the product prices, the $21.99 shipping charge and the sales tax of the delivery province. Nothing is added after you confirm. If your card is issued in another currency, your card issuer converts the amount at its own exchange rate and may add a foreign transaction fee; we have no control over those charges.

3. When your card is charged

  • Your card is authorized and charged when you click the order button at checkout. You receive an order confirmation email once the payment is approved.
  • If the payment is declined, no order is created and nothing is charged. You can try again or use another card. If a declined attempt shows as a pending amount on your statement, it is an authorization hold that your bank releases, usually within a few business days.
  • If we cannot fulfil an order after payment, for example because a product is unavailable, we refund the full amount within 2 business days and tell you by email.

4. Security and your card details

  • Card details are entered on a secure form provided by Stripe and are transmitted directly to Stripe over an encrypted connection (HTTPS). SmartElectro never receives, sees or stores full card numbers or security codes.
  • For your order record we receive confirmation of payment, the card brand and the last four digits of the card.
  • Stripe may ask your bank to verify the transaction (for example with 3-D Secure, where you confirm the payment in your banking app) before approving it.
  • Stripe is certified to the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) as a Level 1 service provider, the highest level of certification. Our website does not store card data, so it is outside the scope of card-data storage rules.

5. Fraud prevention

Stripe screens every transaction for fraud. In rare cases we may ask you to confirm details, such as the billing address on your card statement, before dispatching an order. If an order is cancelled as a result of these checks, the full amount is refunded.

6. Receipts and invoices

The order confirmation email is your receipt. It lists each product, the shipping charge, each tax line and the total. You can also view every order under My Account if you created an account at checkout. If you need a separate invoice for a business purchase, email us with your order number.

7. Refunds

Refunds are made to the card used for the order, never to a different card or by another method. We issue the refund within 5 business days after receiving and checking a returned item, or within 2 business days for a cancellation before dispatch. Card issuers generally take 5 to 10 business days to show the credit on your statement. The Return & Refund Policy explains what is refunded in each case.

8. Disputes and chargebacks

If you do not recognize a charge or believe an amount is wrong, email support@smartelectro.ca with your order number before asking your bank to reverse the payment. We answer within 1 business day and resolve genuine errors with a refund. Opening a chargeback first can delay a refund by several weeks because the amount is frozen by the card networks while the dispute is examined.

9. Statement descriptor

The charge appears on your card statement as SMARTELECTRO.
